Sightseeing Options in Yekaterinburg (included into tour price)
(A) CULTURAL CAPITAL OF SIBERIA - all main historical and cultural sights of Yekaterinburg in the course of a 3-hour tour. You'll see churches of 18th and 19th cc, beatiful squares and architectural monuments. We shall show you the oldest church of Yekaterinburg - the Church of Ascension - and then guide you to the Cathedral on the Blood, where the Romanov tsar family was executed.
(B) MYSTERIES OF THE LAST ROMANOVS - in 1917-1918 Russia's past and present was crucially - and brutally - changed. The tzar family, Nicolas II, his wife and children were excorted to Yekaterinburg, imprisoned and later executed.
The Ipatyev House, the place of Romanovs imprisonment and brutal murder, was turned into Cathedral on the Blood. We shall follow the route of the Bolsheviks to the thick forest and see monastery of Holy Majestic Martyrs at Ganya’s Pit - the place where Romanovs' bodies were supposedly burnt. Our tour will end at the Romanov Memorial that commemorates the site where the bodies of the Romanov family were found.
(C) EUROPE AND ASIA BORDER - Where is the border between Europe and Asia? We'll show you the exact place. Try standing with one foot in Europe and another in Asia - this is really a lifetime experience! Besides the monument itself, you are sure to enjoy the picturesque view of forests and meadows surrounding it.
(D) ART OF URAL JEWELLERS - the Ural region has always been the center of the exquisite art of jewelry in Russia, and most precious, semi-precious and decorative stones take their origin from there. The Ural jewelers are acknowledged as trendsetters in the Russian Art of Jewelry. Visit the fascinating State Stone-Cutting and Jeweller’s Art History Museum, which exhibits unique expositions of gold and silver ware, malachite, of past and modern jeweler’s art - and attend the first private Museum of Stone and see an astonishing collection of over 10000 mineral, crystal and precious stone wares.
(E) PICNIC AT THE WOLF MOUNTAIN
(F) TREKKING THROUGH TAIGA - 6-hour walk in the Siberian taiga with an English speaking guide who will tell you about the local flora and fauna.
(G) ICE FISHING - If it is winter in Russia, we have to be talking about ice fishing. Fortunately, the Russians have developed a way of staying warm while sitting on the ice after years and years of study and development. Once you head out to the lake, it is a pretty simple process. When the hole is hacked through, it is time to find some small stools, bait your line and have a seat. Down goes the line and up goes the vodka. Frankly, the fish are pretty safe. :) Our program includes instructing, equipment, special costumes and 8 hours fishing.
